I’ve been at the South Pole for just over a month now, and I think I’m more or less acclimated (though my typing accuracy would indicate otherwise). While it’s physically something like 9300 feet, some quirk of the temperature/humidity/something makes it feel like it’s a variable above-10k-feet. Today it’s around 10100.
Cool.
My pulse ox on my watch has been having fun the past few days, by which I mean I’ve woken up a few times and checked it and seen it was in the low 80s, or once, 79%. While I guess (without any actual research) this is a factor of calibration and with very I’m a few percent higher in reality, I’m certain that my pulse ox is still lower than it typically is at sea level.
Especially after proofreading this post.
